Tension in Your Golf Swing

It's often said that you shouldn't have any tension in your swing. This isn't true. You need tension, the thing you don’t need is strength. There's a big difference between the two, and if you can't distinguish between them, it may be stopping you from reaching your potential. To get the feeling of both tension and strength, simply stand up and hang your arms at your side. To feel tension, extend your arms downward to the ground as far as they go. As you do this, you will feel tension in your arms because they are stretched to their longest point. Now to feel strength, make two fists and squeeze as hard as you can. These are two totally different feelings that have two totally different affects on your swing. -Paul Wilson

Golf Swing Tip- Your Back Swing

Your club head should be pointing to where you want to hit in your back swing. Just as a common rule, the golf ball usually goes where your club head is pointing on your back swing (when the club head is above your head). When you practice this, do it slowly. Stop your swing when you get to the top of your back swing and see where your club head is pointing. If its pointing down the fairway, good job. If not, it's just something to work on.

Golf Swing Tip- Your Stance

Your Stance. Stance plays a very important role in your golf swing. Without the proper form, nothing else will follow very effectively. There are basically four things to consider in your stance. Keep your butt out, back straight, knees slightly bent, and arms reaching out towards the ball. Do all those things and your shot should improve. Keeping a good stance also helps you to have consistent shots. If you constantly changing your stance even in the slightest, it's going to throw off you swing. By keeping your back straight and your butt out, if ensures that you will have the same stance everytime your ready to hit the ball.

Golf Swing Tip- Swinging through the Ball

When you swing, swing through the ball, not at it. It is important to remember when you are swinging at the golf ball not to think that the golf ball is the end of your swing. It is very easy to do this, and just concentrate on getting the golf club to hit the ball. However, you should be always thinking ahead of the ball. In fact, your divot should be made in front of the ball. This can be very key if you want to get straight and accurate shots. It helps me to think of your swing as a ferris wheel. A ferris wheel goes around and around. It should be the same with your swing (well, don't keep going around and around in a circle unless you want to look like a crazed golfer). Swing through the ball in a complete cycle. That's all it take for a straight, smooth shot.

Golf Swing Tip- Ball Placement

Ball placement. It is important that your golf ball is place correctly and according to the club you are using. For example, when using a driver, your golf ball and tee should always be close to the front of your leading foot. In contrast, when your chipping the ball, you should position yourself so the golf ball is near your back foot. With irons, it is generally considered most effective to have the ball around the middle of your stance. Why do you need to place the golf ball in such a matter? Well, it has to do with the type of shot you're trying to accomplish. When your driving the golf ball, you want maximum distance, so you want to essentially lift the ball into the air. That is why your tee and golf ball should be close to the front of your stance when driving.

Simple Golf Swing Tips

I won't divulge anything that spectacular here but beginners may find the following information advantageous, as well as a few more seasoned golf players. First off, when you are just beginning to learn the game of golf and are looking for a swing to start off with, you should always remember one thing: all golf swings should be similarily modeled after a professional golf player. I know that sounds obvious, but it is essential to follow if you want to become a decent golf player, let alone a professional. It's also best to learn from a trainer that is in similar size and build. This also can be very important when you are first learning or are trying to revamp your golf swing.
